Meet the voice behind Star FM’s morning crew, Stacey White.
> Full Name: Stacey White (but only for a few more months!)
> Star Sign: very Aries.
> Time living in Port Macquarie? I grew up in Wauchope, but I have been away dancing, working, studying and travelling for the past 11 years.
> What I loved most about growing up in Port Macquarie was … being able to walk from home to school, to the ballet studio and back without Mum and Dad having to worry about me. Growing up surrounded by almost all of my extended family, and Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills in the summer – paradise.
> My first job … was performing at Fantasy Glades every day of the school holidays (you can guess what character I played!)
> The most exciting thing I have ever done … I ran a national education program for dance in New Zealand for four years and got to work with people I had admired and looked up to since I was very young.
I was very fortunate, it was surreal going to work every day and having people you consider to be your idols, people who are the best at what they do in the world, standing next to you asking you questions about what you were up to on the weekend … very cool.
> I moved back to the Port Macquarie area … last summer, to spend more time with my family.
> The Star FM Morning Crew is … the only way to wake up every weekday morning! We really enjoy hearing from our listeners, letting you know what went on in the world while you were sleeping, and of course, playing all the songs you want to hear to get you up and moving in the morning.
> Getting up early to do the morning show is … invigorating when you’ve had a great night’s sleep, and painful when you haven’t! I hate the alarm in the morning, but I love having the middle of the day free to take my dog Billy to the beach, to catch up with friends for lunch or to get my Masterchef on in the kitchen.
> My biggest challenge is … working with Tim Green. You never know what he is going to say or what stories of yours he is going to share with the world!
> My favourite band right now is … The Cat Empire, though I can’t wait for the Powderfinger tour in September and Missy Elliott coming back to Australia in October.
> Something people don’t know about me is… I am a bit of a celebrity stalker. During my travels I have met Michael Buble, Julia Roberts, Bette Midler, Adam Garcia, Paul Rudd, Hugh Jackman, Brad Cooper, and the list goes on.
> I am really passionate about … creating opportunities for young people who are passionate about the performing arts in our local area. In my spare time I facilitate extracurricular master classes with industry dance professionals for young Holiday Coast students.
> What I know now, that I didn’t know when I was a teenager … We live in paradise. When I was younger, I thought everybody must be as lucky as we are – to have the beach on our doorstep and to still be able to play cricket in the street with our friends.
After travelling and living in so many different places in the world, I really appreciate our perfect weather, gorgeous scenery, community atmosphere and friendly people.
> The plug: Listen to the Star FM Morning Crew on 102.3 and 105.1 weekday mornings. We guarantee to put a smile on your dial.
> Thank you Stacey.
