October FOCUS Home of the Month is brought to you by Lawrence Built. Scott and Vanessa are proud of their latest build, their own custom built home. Many months in the planning, Scott has built a very comfortable home for his family that is truly stunning. Chrissy Jones had the pleasure of being shown through the residence by Vanessa.
Set high at 10 Horizons Parkway in the Crestwood Heights Estate, the home takes full advantage of its sloping foot print and boasts magnificent views from every possible vantage point.
From first look the home presents as a modern, contemporary facade having a mix of both colours and textures from the James Hardie horizontal cladding to the rendered brickwork and timber panelling – all blends superbly with the easy care landscaped gardens. An exposed aggregate drive leads from street level to the gated entry way onto a tiled patio area with timber lined ceiling fitted with down lighting. The front courtyard encases the patio and wraps around the side of the home to the rear yard.
Entrance to the home is via an extra wide timber and glass panelled doorway into the entry foyer. Beautiful recycled Ironbark timber flooring is underfoot; a six inch board adds a rustic feel and contrast to the crisp, white of the interior. Right of entry is a teenagers’ retreat, having an extra large bedroom with ensuite. Soft carpeting underfoot, square set cornice, ceiling fan and a bank of built-in wardrobes provides an abundance of storage. A wall of windows, both flat panel and louvre, allow direction of air flow, and roller block out blinds let in the required amount of natural light.
The ensuite has been incorporated under the home’s stairway – a space saving idea that works extremely well. A glass doored shower, polished black floor tiling, which are a contrast to the white floor to ceiling wall tiles, black towel rails and a black square set shower rose all match the black frame edge of the shower.
The recycled Ironbark flooring has been crafted into a magnificent, extra wide stairway that leads to the second level of the home. At the top of the stairs you are treated to the wow factor, stepping into an opulent, open plan living area made up of lounge, dining and kitchen flanked both sides by outdoor entertaining areas; all areas have the ironbark flooring underfoot.
Highlights of the kitchen from Mid Coast Kitchens, are the 60 mm stone black granite bench-tops and the black glass mirrored splash-back, and the pendant lighting placed over the island bench from Beacon Lighting. A high raked ceiling overhead adds a light and airy feel, and the flow between the kitchen and the adjoining dining room will make entertaining a breeze. With high gloss cupboard fronts and louvre up door fronts on the overhead cabinetry, the kitchen is a very functional, stylish and maintenance free, designed for a family.
An extra wide island bench houses a double stainless steel sink with flick mixer, under bench dishwasher, microwave nook and lots of soft close storage cabinets. A five burner gas cook-top and gas oven in the back wall of the kitchen has deep drawers either side, adding to the storage provided in the kitchen.
The lounge is spacious – a very comfortable space boasting relaxing views through the silicone joined corner window and glass sliding doors at the front of the home. Opening onto a tiled balcony with glass balustrade, this is a lovely spot to sit and relax, that is protected from northerly winds and captures the afternoon sun. The front balcony, living areas, lounge, kitchen and dining rooms all combine and open out onto the rear alfresco, creating a fantastic entertaining area alongside the pool area.
The rear entertaining area completes the living space perfectly. Having the same flooring as the interior combines all into one large open plan area pool side.
The pool is from Pollard Pools and is surrounded with a frameless glass balustrade. Resort style, the pool has a travertine tile, from Tiles With Style, Your ColorTile store, around the edge and timber decking, which adds a touch of style and safety. Scott has utilised the slope of the land, building a retaining wall at the rear of the pool and incorporating tropical, maintenance free gardens. An outside toilet with hand basin is conveniently placed adjacent to the pool area for summer.
Left of the living areas is a hallway leading to the bedrooms. A centrally placed media room has soft carpeting underfoot and can be closed off for private movie nights via wooden, cavity sliding doors.
An extra large carpeted walk-in linen press gives plenty of storage for the family’s needs and is conveniently placed between bedrooms.
Scott and Vanessa’s daughter’s bedroom is a dream for any teenager. Having a three doored built-in wardrobe, plush carpeting, ceiling fan and a wide, high window offering beautiful views, the bedroom is luxury itself. Next door is a study, with a mirror image layout to the bedroom. Servicing the bedroom is a bathroom, fitted out expertly with a free-standing bath which sits beneath an opaque glass window, hidden WC, wall hung vanity, plus a glass screened shower cubicle with a wall recess included for shampoos etc and a smart-tile drain in the floor tile. White and black porcelain floor and wall tiling mirrors the master ensuite design, and black towel rails and tap-ware all adds to the luxe look and feel.
Once again, a very spacious room, the master is its own private retreat placed at the rear of the home, with access to the pool and entertaining deck area through a double glass sliding door. Black frames around the sliding glass doors (as are the aluminium frames of the windows and door throughout) are a modern, striking contrast to the crisp white of the walls.
Separate his and hers wardrobes, block out roller blinds, ceiling fan and soft carpeting underfoot all add to the tranquility of this light filled master bedroom.
The masters ensuite has a custom made wall mounted vanity, with above bench square set his and hers hand basins with cabinetry below. A large vanity mirror sits above, and opaque glass louvre windows have been placed both sides to allow the natural light in and a directional airflow. The shower has a black polished floor to ceiling tile as a feature on one wall and a glass shower-screen. White tiling floor to ceiling encases the ensuite; black towel rails and fittings and fixtures are a striking addition that matches the window frames and black polished floor tiling.
Overall, the home is an excellent example of the top quality that is delivered every time by Scott and his team at Lawrence Built.
