Youngsters around the greater port macquarie region and beyond will be excited about the arrival of Hi-5 and their concert at port panthers on 23rd January, at 10am.  FOCUS catches up with Hi-5 and here’s a special interview for kids’ eyes only!

Stevie Nicholson

What’s the best thing about being in Hi-5? I love it when we get the opportunity to visit hospitals in our role as ambassadors for the Starlight Foundation. Honestly, nothing beats being able to put a smile on a child’s face. I also love spending time with the rest of the gang in Hi-5; we are constantly trying to make each other laugh.

Favourite stuff:

Food: I love anything my nan cooks, and watermelon.

Music: All music – especially songs that I can dance and sing along to.

Book: Where’s Wally?

Animal: Dolphin … or dragon. I love dragons!

Animated Film: Finding Nemo.

Joke: It’s one Fely taught me:      Q. What do you call a man lying in a pile of leaves? A. Russell.

Tanika Anderson

What’s the best thing about being in Hi-5? My favourite part of being in Hi-5 is getting to meet all of the awesome kids around the world!

Underwater Discovery.

If you could have any magical power in the world, what would it be and what would you do with it? Time travel, of course! I would love to have seen what the world was like before technology was invented. I would also love to travel into the future and see what the world will create next!

Favourite stuff:

Food: Hainanese Chicken Rice is incredible! I also LOVE dried pineapple.

Colour: Purple!

Animal: My favourite animal is the dolphin. They are very intelligent, and their loving nature is just beautiful to watch.

Animated film: Lilo and Stitch.

Hobbies: Travelling, learning new things, cooking and singing.

Favourite part about being in Hi-5? My favourite part about being in Hi-5 is being able to teach children all around the world through song, dance and interaction. I believe this is the best way to learn – not to mention a lot of fun as well! Also, being a part of Hi-5 is very rewarding. We are proud ambassadors for World Vision and Starlight Foundation and have the privilege of visiting some beautiful fans in hospitals, and it is such an honour to be able to make them smile.

Favourite stuff:

Food: All different types of food, but if I had to pick one I’d have to say my Dad’s Korean home cooking.

Colour: Blue.

Music: All music – especially ones that I can dance and sing along to.

Animal: I love all them, reptiles and insects are my favourite, but best of all would have to be a tiger.

Joke: Q. Why do bananas have to put on sunscreen before they go to the beach? A. Because they might peel.

Mary Lascaris

Nickname: Mare-Bare, Mary-Loo, Mezza, Maria, Ave-Maria.

Hobbies: Dancing, singing, gym, crafts, cooking, fishing, cleaning, watching movies and playing board games with my family. My brother and I like to jam on the piano together.

What’s the best thing about being in Hi-5? Being able to play with so many children all around the world. Dancing, singing and putting smiles on kids’ faces is all I’ve ever wanted to do.

What is your favourite Hi-5 song? Mirror Mirror.

If you could have any magical power in the world, what would it be and what would you do with it? I would want to be able to breathe underwater! Then I could go exploring in the sea for as long as I want like a mermaid!

Food:  Lamb, fresh Ricotta, blueberries and honey.

Colour: Purple, pink, silver and anything that sparkles!

Animal: Elephant.

Animated film: Anastasia, Cinderella, and The Incredibles – because it always makes me laugh.

What is the best thing about Hi-5? Meeting so many beautiful kids and travelling with four other people who feel like your best friends.

Food: Lebanese and Italian cuisine, as my family is from these cultural backgrounds, and I love learning to cook.

Animal: The giraffe – they’re so majestic!

Animated film: Beauty and the Beast – it was the film I used to watch all the time growing up.

Book: And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie. It’s an exciting story about a group of guests that travel to an island for a party and mysterious things begin to happen.
