Club North Haven is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and refurbishment! Shane Globits unveils the exciting plans …
Hi Shane. It’s all happening at Club North Haven at the moment. Tell us about the first stage of renovations that are currently taking place.
Yes, it’s very exciting for us at the moment. Stage 1 of our renovations commenced late April. The first month or so is the demolition stage of our project, where the offices, toilets, outdoor smoking terrace and TAB at the eastern side of the club will be making way for our new features. Once the required section of the club is demolished, the builders will start with the footings and framework. The new section of the club is approx. 18 metres x 34 metres and the roof will be lifted to the same height as the rest of the club. This will create a more even flow and a feeling of space throughout.
What were the reasons behind Club North Haven undergoing renovations?
Mainly the fact that the area is growing, and we have more and more people joining and using our club. We have basically outgrown our facilities, and we have become a little dated. This is the first major renovation we have done, and it is important that we get it right. We have found that over the past three – four years the demographic of both our members and the area has changed. We have more families moving to the area and with the major developments through Laurieton, Bonny Hills and Lake Cathie, the Camden Haven area is becoming a very sought after area, and we need to grow with it. For so long the Port Macquarie-Hastings region has been the envy of so many Sydney-siders, and they seem to be the ones who are making the move north, enjoying our climate and relaxed lifestyle.
What can patrons look forward to once the first stage is complete?
Our members and guests will see a change in the club, not only with the functionality and first class facilities, but with the customer service and atmosphere. We will have a new sports bar area, café and lounge, multifunction room which over looks the beautiful Camden Haven River and will be perfect for both personal and corporate functions, two new bars, a state of the art PA and AV system, new furniture throughout and much more.
Our designers have been involved with a number of large clubs, restaurants, shopping centres etc. throughout Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle over the years, and they are excited with what we have come up with. There are certain aspects of this build which will make us stand out, not only in our area, but statewide. One of the major areas that our members and guest will enjoy will be the new café section of the club. Our café will be open all day, every day, so you will be able to have a coffee, a piece of cake or a toasted panini and just sit back and relax.
What other changes are in store for the club?
Over the last few years we have started to grow a reputation for hosting some great entertainment; that will continue. However, there will be a lot more family oriented entertainment and a lot more opportunities for our members to enjoy the benefits associated with being involved with Club North Haven. We are not a venue; we are a destination which everyone will want to keep coming back to over and over again.
We will be holding a grand opening of the first stage of our new build in October. It will be a chance for not only our members, but everyone in the area to see the direction we are heading in.
It’s most definitely business as usual while the renovations are talking place, isn’t it? Tell us what’s on at the club this month that our readers can come and enjoy.
It certainly is. This renovation has been over two years in the making, and we are very mindful of our members when planning how to tackle such a project, without compromising the way we trade. We have two bars and a restaurant that are fully operational and will be throughout the project.
This month we have some great free entertainment, member promotions and draws, and fantastic midweek specials through Seagulls Restaurant. Our Thursday nights are always popular, with free entertainment, raffles and the Club Superdraw. As in most clubs, Friday nights are great; our regulars love the two raffles we run, starting from 4pm with the bouncing ball raffle and the Monster Meat raffle from 6pm.
I am posting photos on Facebook and Instagram daily of the progression of the renovations. If your readers would like to have a look, they can have a chance of winning a $50 Seagulls Restaurant voucher every week, just by liking and sharing the page.
