Beach to Beach Ball

Mary Laing drops by while travelling to fill us in on the latest info about the Beach to Beach Shared Pathway Project (B2B), which aims to complete a safe pathway for the Dunbogan, Laurieton and North Haven communities beside the Camden Haven River. B2B will be hosting their second ball on June 15 as a fundraiser … the theme is “celebrity” – so dress yourselves, and your table, for a night of fun!

Hi Mary. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions while you’re travelling overseas! What’s your involvement with the Beach to Beach Project?

I have been involved with the Beach to Beach Shared Pathway Project (B2B) for the past five years, firstly as a concerned resident wanting safe pedestrian access along the Dunbogan side of the Camden Haven River, then as B2B evolved, I became the Fundraising Coordinator and the Treasurer.

We have held many fundraising events, including movie premieres, high teas, Melbourne Cup luncheons, BBQs at Dunbogan Boatshed, and an outstanding international ball.

On June 15, the second “Beach to Beach” Ball fundraiser will be held at Laurieton United Services Club. Please remind us what the ball is raising funds for …

Beach to Beach is a community driven project to raise funds for a much needed shared pathway to bring safer pedestrian access and connectivity between Dunbogan, Laurieton and North Haven communities. We are working closely with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council to bring this project to fruition. So far there has been approximately 2 km of pathway completed.

What time will the ball commence … and what activities are planned?

Doors will open at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. There will be champagne and refreshments on arrival, followed by a delicious two course meal, with the President and guest speakers presenting. There will be lucky door prizes and an auction on the night.

We have been lucky to secure local Crescent Head band The Roys, who will play great covers music that is sure to get the dance floor rocking ‘n’ rolling all night long.

What’s the theme/dress code for the night?

The B2B Ball has a celebrity theme, where you may come dressed as a celebrity, movie star or their character, singer etc. You may also dress your table up with your theme!

On the night we will be awarding prizes for best dressed male, best dressed female and best dressed couple and table.

Where can we purchase tickets?

You may purchase your tickets direct from the Laurieton United Services Club. The tickets are $60 p.p. which includes a complimentary drink on arrival, two course meal, entertainment by The Roys, and an opportunity to win one of the five lucky door prizes, valued at $100 each.

Final say …

The Camden Haven community has been very supportive of this project, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated in any way, whether you have donated a prize or helped with organising the event, auctioneering etc. A very big thank you! At this point in time we are very grateful to have received auction items from the following sponsors: High Adventure Air Park, Camvet, Camden Head Pilot House, Diamond Waters Retreat, LUSC, Dunbogan Boatshed.

Thanks Mary.
